Midlands Areas. Labour and Love - Percy Fletcher
Playing off number 8 the band played a solid, musical and expressive performance. Our first outing in the 3rd section and we were very happy with how we played. Unfortunately, this time the adjudicator's did not agree placing the band 13th. They highlighted the lyrical and expressive soloists and praised many areas of the band.
Percy Fletchers work became the first original brass band composition to be used as a test piece, when it was performed at the 1913 National Championships at Crystal Palace. A wonderfully crafted composition that tells the story of working class values and features exposed solo's for cornet, euphonium, horn and trombone.
The band although disappointed with the result have bounced back and are working hard for the summer concert and contest season.
