A clean sweep for Rolls at Bolsover.
The Rolls Royce (Derby) Band was thrilled to retain their entertainment crown at the Bolsover festival of brass last weekend. As well as winning their section they also took away the best soloist with Jeff Shaw the bands lead percussionist taking the honours with a wonderful account of ‘Tico Tico’ arranged for accordion and brass band.
Battle of the Bands, Chesterfield. The band were pleased to be in the prizes again at the recent entertainments contest held in Chesterfield. The band came a creditable 3rd place against a tough field of competitors. The band played a varied and lively programme featuring our principle cornet playing 'Share my Yoke' and our trombone section playing 'It's Not Unusual'. The band also came second in the 'band of bands' choice voted for by the other bands entered. The band are now looking forward to the summer season, check back to see if we are in your area.
Midlands Area 3rd Section Contest. The band played Philip Wilby's 'A Little Light Music' and came eleven out of fourteen bands. The adjudicators were Alan Hope and David Horsfield.
Sunday 20th March. Rolls Royce (Derby) Band 3rd in the 3rd Section at the NEMMBA Contest. A well organised and enjoyable day for the band. This gave the band an opportunity to play out the area test piece and gain some valuable comments from two adjudicators.
